“The Biggest Problem for Ron Paul… His Supporters”

March 9, 2012

“Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone elses opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.” —Oscar Wilde

You have to own what you believe, tweak it, make it answer to your values and reason. This is plagiarism, but the good kind.

Ron Paul has a view, and argues for that view. And if you disagree, he respects it. Even dipshit Tucker Carlson admires this about Ron Paul.

We get caught up in Paul’s beliefs, and conform our opinions and views to his own. That’s not liberty, that’s substituing one kind of conformity for another. It limits the conversation and the possibilities. Ron is only one man, a man, he is not a saint, a god or any other infalliable diety, and admittedly does not see himself as one, nor try to be one. He just makes his case.

Notice I said his case, you are free to make another argument for liberty. Each generation has to own their liberty and fight for their individual freedom. You will find no reward blindly following the ideology of any mortal man.

You have to learn, read, watch, research to accumluate knowledge. Once you acquire that knowledge you have a responsibility to act. Whatever you choose is up to you. That is true freedom. Autonomy. Liberty. There is no road map or list of rules for living free other than living free. It’s a choice. Just like what Bill Hicks said;

“The world is like a ride in an amusement park, and when you choose to go on it you think it’s real because that’s how powerful our minds are. The ride goes up and down, around and around, it has thrills and chills, and it’s very brightly colored, and it’s very loud, and it’s fun for a while. Many people have been on the ride a long time, and they begin to wonder, “Hey, is this real, or is this just a ride?” And other people have remembered, and they come back to us and say, “Hey, don’t worry; don’t be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride.” And we … kill those people.

“Shut him up! I’ve got a lot invested in this ride, shut him up! Look at my furrows of worry, look at my big bank account, and my family. This has to be real.” It’s just a ride. But we always kill the good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok …

But it doesn’t matter, because it’s just a ride. And we can change it any time we want.

It’s only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings of money. Just a simple choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love instead see all of us as one. Here’s what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace.”

What will we choose… It is up to us. Ralph Nader‘s mother had a saying to all of her children when they came to her with a problem: “I believe it’s you…” You are responsible, you know the situation, what are you going to do. What is your way for moving forward. It’s not wrong, it’s not “right” it’s what you choose to do with the opportunity that is presented before you. Ron Paul gets that. For some reason “we” a good portion of us who support him for one reason or another do not. And it is killing us and harming him. He deserves better.

This is what people mean when they say “the biggest obstacle to Ron Paul is his supporters.” If you are too domineering, condescending and DO NOT LISTEN to other people, and speak on their terms to their concerns, you are fighting the wind… We still have yet to learn this message and until we do, people will tune us out. It’s exclusive. We need to welcome others, agree on what we can agree on and use coalitions to advance our views. Ron Paul may be diametirically opposed to Barney Frank and Dennis Kucinich, but he works with them on what they DO agree on… Why can’t we learn from Dr. Paul and take his lead??? It is up to US!
